Have been using PK Sharpener since its release and upgraded to the CS2 version a while back with no problems until today. In the middle of a big job (of course) I suddenly can't access any of the functions.

I get the message "Could not complete the PhotoKit Capture Sharpener command because a command was not available." The only thing different was that the images I have been working on are pretty big 170-340MB. I had successfully applied Capture Sharpening to one image (and saved it to the Desktop). I then worked on a second image and got a message that the Scratch Discs were full and the Sharpening action could not be completed. I saved the image, closed PS, then reopened it. Then got the 'command' message.

Downloaded the CS2 PK Sharpener upgrade again, re-installed PS, reduced the memory allocation from 65 to 60%. All no go.

Using a Dual 1GHz Quicksilver with 1.5GB RAM and a separate internal HD with two 2GB partitions for scratch discs. OS 10.4.1

Does your image have a real Background layer as apposed to a named layer? PK Sharpener pops that error when there is not background layer. To correct this, you'll need to select the bottom layer and go to Layer>New Layer> Make Background Layer.

As to the Scratch Disk full after saving to the desktop, where is your scratch disk set to? Do you have a lot of scratch disk size available? If your boot drive is full'ish and your scratch is set to your boot drive, you really need to get a new drive for scratch disk use. It's not ideal to have the scratch set to your boot drive.

That was the problem. Many thanks Jeff.

The Scratch Discs are two 2GB partitions on another internal HD, not my boot drive.

2 gigs? Surely you jest. . .don't you mean like 20 or 200 gigs? Two 2 gig partitions would simply not really be enough.

It looks like I wrongly assumed that the (old) 2GB RAM limit carried over to scratch disc as well.

Planing on a new PowerMac 2.7GHz (unless an upgrade comes along) in September with 6.5GB RAM and WD Cheetah HD. :-)
