Wierdest thing is happening and not all the time and I cannot duplicate with the same workflow. What will happen is that I am working on an image and when I go to the AUTOMATE window, all SHARPENER actions are greyed out and cannot use them. I have to quit Photoshop CS2 and then restart and then its OK. This can get quite annoying (having to quit the application and restarting). Any ideas what is causing this? I am using a MAC Power PC with TIGER OS and 3.5gig of ram

The only thing I can think of is that the current document isn't in RGB mode any more. If it happens again, take a screen grab.

Same thing happens to me, using CS2 on a G4 running Panther. If I use any of the filters from Power Retouche (I often use their B&W conversion), and then try to use functions listed under AUTOMATE (e.g. PK Sharpener), the menu is grayed-out. I've checked, the files are still in RGB mode.

I never made the connection with Powerretouche as I too use their filters on occasion. Does this mean it is an incompatibility with Powerretouche and Sharperner? Never used to happen with Photoshop CS

Thsi sounds like an issue with Power Retouche (disabling the Automate menu). Please contact me off list at Mike Skurski (mike@pixelgenius.com) if you are interested in running some tests for me so I can determine the cause of this issue.

Many thanks to those who e-mailed me. I have reviewed Power Retouche and they definitely have an issue with the Power Retouche filters on Mac OS X 10.3.9/PSCS2. They will need to be notified of the bug and they will have to re-work their code to fix the issue. I suggest Power Retouche users send and e-mail to Esmann at: esmann@mensa.dk or esmann@powerretouche.com
