I have been using PKS successfully for several months now. Great product. I am hoping to get some clarification regarding the use of image width selection for the web output sharpening. The PKS manual refers to using the image width for selecting the output sharpening, plus the "frequency" setting (narrow, medium, etc).

For an image that is 400x600 (landscape orientation) I presume the width is 600. What about for a 600x400 (portrait orientation). Does the width change to 400, or do you select the longest edge as the value to use for width, i.e. 600 pixel in the case of the portrait image. I do not see why a 400x600 should be treated any differently than a 600x400, although I must admit that I am not up on the technology inherent in monitors.

So they simple question is does width refer to W in the WxH, is it the longer of W and H.

Thanks in advance for any forthcoming advise ... Al

It's the W in WxH, no matter which is the long edge.

The reasons are less to do with monitor technologies, more to do with the fact that our eyeballs are side by side rather than oe on top of the other.
