When ever I use the Digital High Res capture sharpener, it puts a thin light line around the edge of light objects. This is not a halo, and you have to zoom it at least at %200, but the problem is, when you try and blow up something that you have used he capture sharpening on, you can really see it. I appears to be only in the light contour, and I could not see it with any of the other capture sharpeners.
I am using this to sharpen files from the Canon 1DS.

Bruce has mentioned several times over in the stronget possible terms that we cannot judge the impact of sharpening by looking at anything on the monitor. He is of course correct. If you see this effect in a print, that is something to be concerned about, but I am using a Canon 1Ds also, I have blown-up one third of the image to A3 size after using digital hi-res capture sharpen as well as Inkjet Output sharpen and even on that extreme an enlargement I have observed no such effects - and certainly none on full frame 1Ds images emlarged to A3 size.

I know that you can not go by your monitor, but the fact reamains that it does this with only this particular capture sharpening, no other, or at least not to the same extent. The problem comes, when you blow the object up. You most definatley can see it then. I am not talking about halos, I know what those are. As I said, I do not see it with other capture sharpeners.

Speters, it would be helpful to a better understanding of this discussion if you could clarify explicitly whether you see these lines on PRINTS. Regards, Mark
