Unable to Sharpen Panorama

I have used Photoshop Photomerge to stich together four photographs of a total of 194MG. The image is 8bits and flattened. When I attempt to use PK Sharpener to do any sharpening, I get the message, "Could not complete the Photokit Capture Output Sharpener Command because a command was not available." What I have done is to sharpen is to use the Capture and Output sharpeners on each image before merging them. This works O.K. but I'm unable to do an Output sharpening of the whole image using PK Sharpener. I've done that using Unsharp Mask. Any way I could use PK Sharpener for this ?

Make sure your bottom layer is a real background layer. . .this is outlined in the manual.

Specifically, on page 8. The fix is to select the layer and choose Layer>New>Background from Layer. Then the output sharpener will be happy.
