PhotoKit Expert Sharpener

I'm using Expert Sharpener and from reading the SHARPENER 1.2.2 manual (page 19) I understand that I can adjust the white black and gamma of either the light or dark layer. This is illustrated at the left bottom of the page with a screen shot of two traditional "levels" control windows. My question is: how do I access those control windows or are they there just for purposes of illustrating what is going on?

1.) Make sure that the layer mask you want to edit is targeted (clicking its tile in the layers palette does this.

2.) Choose Levels from the Image>Adjust menu or press Command-L/Ctrl-L.

That's it.
