PK Sharpener Creative Sharpen not working, pls help

Hi Gurus,

For some reason, I can no longer get the Creative Sharpen part of PK Sharpen to work. Specifically, when I paint with white in the black filled layer mask, no white appears to reveal the sharpening move, even when white is set as foreground color. This has always worked for me in the past, but I haven't a clue why it has stopped working now. Please help.

Check your brush blend mode, opacity and other settings.

Jeff, I did that, Blend mode is Overlay, Layer Opacity 50%, Brush at 100% -it would be helpful to know the opacity and blend modes should be. Please let me know what sharpener default modes are.
