I'm about to enter a competition that requires slides for the jury to review. Do I need to sharpen a 2400 x 3200 file for output to a slide? If so, what setting? The contone sharpener only goes up to 400...

Too bad you didn't get any answer, not even from PixelGeniu folks. It is actually an interesting question.
I would consider this. What is the size at which slides will be viewed or projected? I would resize the picture to that size, and then use the contone 400. Just guessing.

Well, there _IS_ no good answer because it _ALL_ depends upon the manner inwhich the slides are being made. We chose not to go down the route of trying to provide sharpening for film recorders simply because there is no standard for size nor sharpening. Some recorders have built in uprezing, some don't. Some have built in sharpening, some don't.
The best bet is to do a test to see what level of sharpening is required for your particular method of recording the slides...a combination of creative sharpeners-in particular Luminance and High Pass sharpeners would be my guess-but it's a guess only and I couldn't guess the routines needed. Judge at a zoom of about 25% in Photohop and then run an output test.

Thanks for the input, Jeff. Since I don't have a film recorder, I'm dependent on the fine folks at Reed Imaging in Denver. Now I know at least a few of the questions I need to ask them.

Walt
