I have had mixed success using PKS. On images from my film scanner I get brilliant results but images from my digital camera (E-20) is not so good. I use raw from the E-20 ACR it into PSCS but as there is no sharpening done except "capture sharpening" it is not enough. My question is what is the level of sharpness PK expects before it does it work ? The film scanner starts with a sharper image and hence I get a better result. And if I had used JPG then some sharpening would have been done by the camera.
Thanks

OK so this must be a dumb question but I shall try to re-phrase it.
The RAW from my E-20 is a lot less sharp than the output from my Canon 2710 film scanner. I get perfect sharpening using capture sharpener from the scanner, but cannot get enough from the E-20. Is this a common problem, should I be using the ACR sharpener as a starting point for PKS?

Robert,
my images from the Panasonic DMC LC1 are also very soft. I use the Capture Sharpener, but most often I change opacity from the default 66% to 100%. After that I do a Creative Sharpen (i.e. Edge Sharpen 2 or 3) and then a normal Output Sharpen for my inkjet (Epson2100). For me the output is definitely sharp enough. Until now I never sharpened in ACR , because I'm very satisfied with the output.

Hi Ronald,
When you say creative sharpen do you mean over the entire image or are you selective

It depends, for landscape or similar images I use it over the entire image. For portrait work I use often the brushes to sharpen eyes and lips. I think, the whole creative sharpener process involves your creativity - some things work better then other. No fast and hard rules here.
