View Full Version : D60, Sharpener and Imageprint
First off, gota say how impressed with pk sharpener i am, simple and very effective...top stuff.
This has probably been answered before but i was wondering what's the best way to sharpen for imageprint?
If i'm bringing the photos from my Canon D60 into cs2 at 300dpi, editing them, then sending to imageprint at 300dpi to be upsized to A3+ (19x13), do i output sharpen at 300dpi or 360dpi, or is it best to upsize in cs2 then sharpen at 300dpi or 360dpi.
Thanks in advance
Mike

Mike, first of all, you should be sharpening in CS at the rez of the image as it exist in CS -- if it is 300 in CS then sharpen at 300 and don't worry about what the rip is going to do to it. In terms of deciding whether to uprez in CS or the rip, then that is pretty much in the eye of the user. I have been very happy running my images in CS at 240 (and doing all of my sharpening, etc. ) at the size I want and then sending them over to IP (which I understand then changes them to 360 dpi before it prints). My suggestion would be to try it (the sizing) both ways and see which one looks best to you. I happen to like the sizing uprez in CS better.

Mike,
in the message http://forums.pixelgenius.com/showthread.php?postid=790&highlight=imageprint#post790 Bruce made clear that Imageprint won't uprez to 360, but only pass the data thru a 360 ppi grid. Your suggestion regarding the upressing is exactly what I normally do. Just trying both ways and deciding afterwards which one looks better.
